About the Retreat

Kambo is a substance that comes from frog secretion, and for many indigenous cultures in the Amazon, this purgative, immunity-boosting medicine is very important. Known as the “vaccine of the forest,” it has also become renown outside of the Amazon as a powerful treatment for chronic pain and drug dependence. Indigenous tribes have used it for centuries to heal and cleanse the body by strengthening its natural defenses and warding off bad luck. They believe that the poison of this Amazonian tree frog expels ‘panema’ or the ‘negative energies’ from the body, thus giving it an energetic and physical ‘reset’.

As we honor the sacred Mayan lands, we will facilitate our collective healing through eastern practices, as well as bringing in years of our own experience with integration of transformational work.  As facilitators, we are providing a safe and comfortable container through our own knowledge of nutrition, movement and personal development work, for the healing to take place in ideal conditions. We are weaving it in a collaboration with a medicine woman, Javiera Paz – Kawa, with the blessing of the tribe Nôke Kôi (Nôke = people, Kôi = good; ‘a tribe of people with good heart’ from the state Acre in Brazilian Amazon rainforest), who are one of the original guardians of the tradition of Kambo. Alongside kambo, they use Rome Poto (Rapé Noke Kôi) and vetxe txeti (sananga – medicine used for clear vision).

Our community is built on a different paradigm, where we acknowledge that we are children of Mother Nature and where we seek to live in harmony with the wisdom originating from that nurturing frequency. In this retreat, we will take you on a journey to expore that connection more deeply. Our schedule is full of practices of reconnection and rememberance of what it takes to live with the understanding of nonduality. We seek to bring you to a place where you feel fully equipped to face the adventures and challenges in your personal journey, learning how to slow down your mind and listen to your intuition and the language of the world that is beyond words.

Our community is oriented towards synergistic relationships among people in service to each other’s journey. While we are holding space for your process, we are also going through a lot of learning and growing ourselves and we feel it’s important to observe how that plays out differently in each retreat and how the community becomes stronger throughout the process. In this way you also learn that a huge amount of evolution happens when we move according to the energy of the group instead of with strict schedules, and when we work as a team to resolve any tension, creating a non-competitive atmosphere where you can find freedom to grow and expand.

Science is now starting to catch up with a lot of things that have been believed and used by tribal cultures for centuries, often proving that we aren’t really discovering new information, but rather re-discovering what was lost during the rise of technology. So after countless positive reviews and miraculous stories, research is only now starting to dive into why this medicine works, for what and how, often neglecting the spiritual aspect of the healing.

The most common positive benefits reported from the use of kambo are:

  • Physically: strengthens immune system, detoxifies, re-establishes good function of organs, regulates internal systems, assists cell regeneration and rehabilitation from illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, HIV and chronic diseases.
  • Emotionally: helps clean emotional blockages and traumatic memories, treats imbalances such as depression, anxiety, insomnia and deepens our inner consciousness
  • Mentally: assists in transformation of confusion and preoccupation, allowing us to reorganize our thinking from the space of clarity and lucidity
  • Spiritually: concentrates spirit and strength in the body, strengthening the presence to be able to unravel our highest potential

There are a lot of articles and some research online for those more curious or new to this treatment. The vast source of information that we’ve found online is: https://thethirdwave.co/psychedelics/kambo/

Every person is going through their own process of healing and at their own pace. During the retreat, the participants will be encouraged to partake in 3 kambo applications, as this allows the medicine to go deeper and seals the connection with the powerful spirit of kambo. As the cleanse can sometimes feel intense, the participation in all three is optional and the days of application don’t need to be consecutive.

Preparation before arriving to the retreat:

Healing with kambo can offen appear unpleasant or intense. Although the treatment is short, we believe in the importance of both preparation and integration.

The first aspect is clear will. This is your call to this medicine and your reason for choosing to receive the treatment. Through the opening circle and introduction, we will facilitate making your intention clearer and as we explain more about the medicine, participants often understand why they felt called to it, over other medicine or how it feels complimentary to the path they’re already on.  We invite you to write down your intention as clearly as possible beforehand.

Beyond that we encourage a clean diet for at least three days before the retreat. The most important things to avoid are: any sort of drugs and alcohol, excessive sugar or fats, in particular refined oils and processed sugar, deep fried foods, red meat, dairy products, non-organic or heavily processed foods, etc.

We offer a variety of nutrient-rich vegetarian dishes, cooked and raw foods, prepared with love, as we focus on delicious, fresh and energizing foods and we are always open to accomdating specific diets or allergies. Take this opportunity to detox and nourish your body at the core.
